Piano Lessons

Melissa LaMarca

Melissa has been playing piano and singing in choir since 2008.  She worked as an assistant music teacher within an elementary school district to help develop and implement a general music program right after graduating high school.  Since then, her jobs have all involved working with children and/or teaching.  Melissa became a member of the World Renowned Mt. San Antonio Chamber Singers in 2014, traveling both nationally and internationally for competitions and the joy of sharing music.  In 2015, she was appointed Alto Section Leader for the choir-a role she would hold until her final year as a member in 2017.  The position required a number of musical skills including piano and sight reading, as well as patience, efficiency and adaptability to contribute the section's success in learning.

In 2016 Melissa began providing private piano lessons.  She desires to instill a love of both the instrument and the musical language within each student, remaining attentive to their own individual pace and learning style.

Melissa thoroughly enjoys teaching beginning piano and the basics of music theory.  The skills she helps her students to develop can carry on to all level of piano as well as allow students to teach themselves various songs or even other instruments.

Once her students have mastered the basics, Melissa continues their musical and technical journey through compositions of increasing difficulty. Melissa is able to help students gain a knowledge of music theory that will prepare them for college level courses, sight singing, other instruments, and even help open the door to musical composition in various styles! Her main goal is to give students the opportunity to carry the happiness and joy that comes with playing piano throughout their lives, be it a hobby or a profession. Piano lessons are not just about music-they are about self expression, self esteem, cognitive development, emotional development, creativity and much, much more!
